New route, extra capacity and frequency on the Baltic Sea

2017 was another year that seen dynamic developments in the Baltic Sea South region in terms of both frequency and capacity.

During the summer we increased the number of departures to 40 trips per week on the Gdynia to Karlskrona route with Stena Spirit, Stena Vision and Stena Baltica in service at their maximum frequency.

This enabled us to offer extra capacity when most ferry lines were very busy with the tourist peak season.

On 28 August we added an additional  freight only vessel; GUTE, which increased the number of trips to 44 per week, offering customers extra capacity and frequency during the very busy autumn peak season. The route Gdynia to Karlskrona is now the first route to have four vessels in regular service.

On 16 October we launched a new freight only ferry route from Gdynia to Nynäshamn employing the ro/ro ship ‘Elisabeth Russ’, which offers six trips per week between Gdynia and the Stockholm area. This strategic step enables us to boost the frequency further to 50 trips per week between Gdynia and Sweden and to offer our customers a unique setup of two ferry routes, serving Southern Sweden, the Stockholm area, Northern Sweden and Norway from one port in Gdynia.

‘Elisabeth Russ’ has capacity for 12 driver accompanied units and large capacity for unaccompanied units, trailers, containers, overloads/project cargo (even very large units) and most IMDG dangerous goods types including those normally not accepted on ropax ferries.

Based on the two routes between Poland and Sweden the next step is to strengthen the HUB for flows between Central Europe and Scandinavia for both Gdynia and Nynäshamn, the latter with regular service to Ventspils as well.

These initiatives enable us to serve your growing transport businesses in order for you to deliver your goods on time. In addition, we are prepared to support you in your development of any unaccompanied traffic and intermodal solutions via Gdynia, Karlskrona and Nynäshamn.
